I'll overwhelm 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.
Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" the American as the pair met personally to promote the upcoming bout.
Former two-time unified title holder Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's venue on December 19th.
Boxer's Mindset
"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I intend to really want to cause him pain. That's my intention."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, targeted British rival Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.
"I acknowledge that."
Legitimate Fighter
Despite declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's boxing ability.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.
Jake Paul's History
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the novice is still one of the sport's greatest financial successes, frequently receiving massive financial rewards.
Forecast and Belief
The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently being planned for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.
Physical Difference
As the two fighters participated in the customary stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it highlighted just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is truly happening.
